WISCONSIN COURT REPORTING REALTIME CONTEST COURT REPORTING APPLETON WISCONSIN
On April 24th, 2009, the Wisconsin Court Reporters Association held their first-ever realtime contest in conjunction with their spring convention for court reporters in Appleton Wisconsin. Prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Contestants had to achieve 96% or higher to pass. Court reporters received five minutes of literary material dictated at 180 words a minute. Twenty court reporters signed up for the contest and three passed with an accuracy rate of 96% or higher.
1st place, Karla Sommer, passed with 98.5% accuracy. Karla works as an official at the Marathon County Courthouse in Wausau Wisconsin. Karla provides CART reporting as well.
2nd place, Jessica Waack, passed with 96.8 accuracy. Jessica works as a freelance court reporter at Brown & Jones Reporting, Inc. in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
3rd place, Deborah DuQuaine, passed with 96.4 accuracy. Deborah is a freelance court reporter and works at Bay Reporting in Green Bay Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Court Reporters Association would like to thank everyone who made the effort and took the test, as well as congratulate the top three finishers on their outstanding achievement.
